DR. HOWARD MARSHALL, DDS
Periodontitis is a chronic bacterial disease. Each person has different bacteria and certain medical conditions that can influence the severity of the disease, including diabetes, or pre-diabetes. We look at the medical side of your health, not only the dental.
You cannot treat Periodontal Diseases just with surgery. Not only must the infection be removed, but you must keep the teeth clean at home. We will teach you how to do this. And we must reexamine and clean your teeth in the gum space 4 times a year to make sure you are not getting a return of the bacteria and the Periodontal Disease.
Periodontitis begins with bacterial plaque accumulation on tooth surfaces, and after gingival inflammation develops, it causes the periodontal ligament to loosen teeth.
Without dental intervention, periodontitis can lead to tooth loss, infect your arteries and can cause serious health problems.
Mainly Pocket Elimination - Early and moderate. Case types 1 and 2.
Deeper pockets, more difficult to save, loose teeth, often bad bites with heavy bruxing damage.
Often require many bone grafts, extraction of hopeless teeth, and socket bone grafts to build up bone for later implants.
Not all cases are the same, and people have different types of infection, different stages of gum disease, and bone loss. We treat them completely and work also with the physician if we suspect diabetes. Other offices extract more teeth, but Dr. Marshall tries to save as many teeth as it's possible!
The only way that Dr. Marshall, who is a very well know periodontist in New York, can tell you which type of case you have, is by looking at your X-Rays, measuring the periodontal pockets in the gums, and examining your bite and tooth looseness. At that periodontal examination and consultation, he can explain what he can accomplish for you and what the cost will be.
Since the X-Rays and examination do not cost you, it is to your benefit to come in and have this examination and discussion with this excellent periodontist, and really find out what you need. Then you make the decision if you would like him to take care of you. Dr. Marshall is amazing with how many questionable teeth he has saved for people. You are lucky to find him and get his treatment!
To determine the cost of the procedure, the doctor needs to examine your mouth, the X-Rays, the gums, loose teeth, and the bite before he can give his fee.
In choosing to see Dr. Howard Marshall, you're choosing a very highly trained doctor who has dedicated his life to helping patients get their gum disease properly treated.
